TECH TIP - GET ORGANIZED

File Management Made Easy

Are more file icons than usable Desktop space visible on your monitor? Does a principal's request for a lesson plan throw you in a tizzy -- not because you haven't written it, but because you can't find it? Those might be signs that the time has come to organize your computer files! The tips below should help

A Sight for Sore Eyes
Custom Views create order from folder chaos.

Is your My Documents folder a mess? Customize the way files and folders are displayed. Go to C>My Documents and click View. Select Thumbnails to see how that display format looks. Next try View>Tiles, View>Icons, View>Lists, or View>Details. Pick the display format you prefer.

Filing Time
Find the right time to create folders.

Exactly when should you begin to store your files in folders? If you've created and saved more than five files on a single topic, it's time to store them in a folder. To create a folder on your Desktop, right-click any blank space and select New>Folder. Type a name for the folder and click and drag appropriate files into it.

Second Thoughts?
You can rescue files from the Recycle Bin.

If you've sent a file to the Recycle Bin, but now want it back, just double-click Recycle to open it, right-click the file you want to restore to its original location, and select Restore this Item.
